Lips Embroidery

Lips Embroidery adds a soft wash of colour to your lips, so they look brighter, more even and naturally defined. It suits you if you are tired of pale or uneven lips and want more colour without reaching for lipstick through the day. Available at our Petaling Jaya and Penang branches.

RM1,200 First session
RM600 Touch-up, within 18 months
2 – 3 yrs How long it lasts
3 h Session time

Includes one free touch-up within 6 months.

The colour is implanted into the lips, so it stays with you through eating, drinking and your daily routine. We can also softly define the lip line to make your lips look more balanced and polished, without adding any volume.

Your final result depends on your natural lip colour. If your lips are already light and even, we can usually work towards your desired colour directly. If they are darker or cooler in tone, we may need to neutralise the colour first before adding your chosen shade. We will assess your lip tone at the consultation and recommend the best approach for you.

For the best colour retention, touch-ups are recommended within 18 months of your last session. Not sure which approach yours needs? Send us a close-up photo of your lips in natural light and we will tell you before you book.

Healed lips embroidery, brighter and more even lip colour, Bowbowbrow Malaysia

Why choose it

Why Choose Lips Embroidery?

01
Brighter, more even colour
from pale or uneven

Pale lips and patchy tone are the two things clients come in for. Colour is built across the whole lip, so the tone reads consistent instead of darker at the edges.

02
A defined lip line
shape and symmetry

The outline is drawn and agreed with you before anything starts, so an uneven upper lip can be balanced at the same time as the colour goes on.

03
Colour that stays put
no reapplying

It does not transfer onto a cup or wear off after a meal, which removes a step most people repeat several times a day.

Not suitable for
  • Active cold sores or broken skin on the lips. Wait until it has fully healed. If you get cold sores at all, tell us when you book, because the procedure can trigger one.
  • Anyone expecting the healed colour to match day one. It settles considerably softer over the first two weeks. That is normal, and it is why the free touch-up exists.
  • Several medical conditions. Diabetes, AIDS or Hepatitis B, a pacemaker or major heart condition, pregnancy or having given birth in the last 3 months, and high blood pressure without your doctor's clearance. The full list is in the FAQs below.

Lips Neutralization vs Lips Embroidery

Same session, same price. Which one you need depends on the tone your lips start at, and we decide it together at the consultation.

Dark cool-toned lips before lips neutralization, Bowbowbrow Malaysia
Lips Neutralization
dark, cool-toned or uneven lips

Warm pigments, peach, orange and yellow, are used to correct dark, cool or uneven tones first, so the base is even before your colour goes on. The result is an even, balanced lip tone.

Pale even-toned lips before lips embroidery, Bowbowbrow Malaysia
Lips Embroidery
light or even-toned lips

Customised pigment goes on directly to enhance your natural lip colour, because the base tone is already even. The result is a soft tint or a defined, lipstick look.

Not sure which yours is? Send us a close-up photo taken in natural light, no filter, and we will tell you before you book.

FAQs

Before you book

How long does lips embroidery last?

2 to 3 years, depending on skin type, lifestyle and aftercare. A touch-up within 18 months of your last session keeps the colour looking its best.

Does it hurt?

Most clients find it tolerable thanks to the numbing cream. If you have a lower pain tolerance, we recommend avoiding your menstrual period when booking, as skin is more sensitive then.

How long does the session take?

First session: 3 hours, covering consultation, colour matching, outline design, numbing and the embroidery itself.

Touch-up: 1.5 to 2 hours.

What is lips neutralisation, and do I need it?

Neutralisation is for dark, cool-toned or uneven lips, including hyperpigmentation. Warm pigments, peach, orange and yellow, are used to correct the tone first, so the base is even before your colour goes on. The result is an even, balanced lip tone rather than a patchy one.

If your lips are already light or even-toned you do not need it. It is the same session and the same price either way, and we decide at your consultation. Send us a photo beforehand if you want to know in advance.

What is the healing process like?

Days 1 to 2: lips look swollen and the colour is much brighter than the final result. This is normal.

Days 3 to 5: light flaking and peeling. Do not pick at it.

Days 6 to 10: the colour looks very light, sometimes almost gone. It comes back as the skin settles.

The final colour is visible after 4 to 6 weeks, which is why the free touch-up is booked after that.

What should I do before my appointment?

From 2 days before your appointment:

  • Avoid caffeine, including coffee, tea and milk tea.
  • Stay hydrated for better pigment retention.
  • Get enough sleep to support skin healing.
  • Apply lip balm to keep your lips moisturised.
  • Tell us if you get cold sores.
What is the aftercare process?
  • No eating for the first 3 hours. Use a straw for drinks.
  • Keep your lips clean and dry for the first 24 hours.
  • No touching, picking or peeling the lips.
  • Apply the recommended ointment to keep them moisturised.
  • Avoid hot, spicy and raw foods, and direct sun.
  • Avoid intense workouts and sweating for one week.
  • Stay hydrated.

Expect slight swelling and dryness for the first few days, and more intense colour for the first 24 to 48 hours. That is normal.

What colour options are available?

The pigment is customised to you. We look at your natural lip tone and the result you want, and agree the shade with you at the consultation before anything starts.

Can I still wear lipstick or lip gloss afterwards?

Yes, once your lips have fully healed, which takes about 2 weeks. Avoid heavy lip products before that.

Who should avoid lips embroidery?

Do not book if you:

  • Have Diabetes, AIDS or Hepatitis B.
  • Have a pacemaker or a major heart condition.
  • Are pregnant, or have given birth within the last 3 months.
  • Have high blood pressure. Speak to your doctor before proceeding.
  • Have an active cold sore or broken skin on the lips. Wait until it has fully healed.
How much does lips embroidery cost in Malaysia?

RM 1,200 for a first session, which includes one free touch-up within 6 months.

Touch-ups after that are RM 600, valid within 18 months of your last session.

Can lips embroidery be removed?

Yes. It is semi-permanent, and it can be lightened or removed with professional laser removal. Ask us and we will refer you.

Is lips embroidery safe?

Yes, when it is done by a certified artist with sterile, disposable tools and high-quality pigments. Every artist here has at least two years in the industry.

What happens if I do not touch up after 2 to 3 years?

The colour fades gradually and evenly rather than going patchy. A fresh session restores it, charged as a new set at RM 1,200.
